Welcome to Bet Tikvah Synagogue! In introducing ourselves, here are a few details about our vibrant and pro-active community that has recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.
We are a constituent member of 'Liberal Judaism' and were founded in 1981. Following the acquisition of our building, we became independent having operated for five and a half years as the Ilford Group of the North London Progressive Synagogue. The transformation of a dilapidated structure into the Synagogue that we have today resulted from many months of hard, demanding and dedicated work from committed members.
That major event of breaking away from our 'mother' synagogue represented a gigantic leap of faith by our 50 founder members -- a leap of faith into the future of Progressive Judaism in the Ilford and Barkingside area. What was created was the beginning of a warm and caring Jewish community that has continued to develop into the Bet Tikvah that we are today.
All of us involved at Bet Tikvah are proud of what has been achieved. The warmth and integrity of our Shabbat and Festival Services are here for you to experience in our newly re-furbished, beautiful Synagogue. The friendliness of our community has always been an ever-present part of what we are.
