Our cheder is something rather special. I don’t mean to brag…actually, yes I do! Our cheder is special for so many reasons. The teachers are members of the Bet Tikvah family and as such, have a close bond to the shul.
Unlike many chederim, we take our children from age 5 officially, although a few four year olds have snuck in and been welcomed when an older brother or sister joins in the fun.
The children learn Hebrew, initially through games and lots of arts and crafts, and later as they grow, the Hebrew sessions become more formal. We also teach Jewish History and Torah. The cheder takes part in our Chanukah and Tu B’Shvat services, allowing our great kids to really show off how fantastic they are to their friends and family.
We meet on Sunday during term-time, from 9.30-12.00, apart from the second week of each month when we meet on a Saturday instead so that the children can take part in the Shabbat morning service.
If you want to know more or even let your kids try us on for size, just pop along to the shul on a Sunday morning or drop me an email via the shul.
I look forward to meeting you soon.
